2003 season: 9 July-26 Julyby Dorothy Hewettdirected by Gayle Poorby special arrangement with H.L.A Management Pty LtdSunday Matinee 20 July 2003Dorothy Hewitt worked in Sydney's industrial areas in the 1950's and squatted in a house in Redfern, which became the South Sydney Headquarters for the Communist Party. She wrote "This old man came rolling home" from these experiences. The values, languages, folklore and poetry of these "battlers" are reflected in this work. The play celebrates the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. The year before her death Hewitt expressed regret that none of her earlier works had been revived.
